Project Description – New build 5,000ft² industrial unit with associated offices and toilets including concrete and tarmac yard and parking areas.
Role – On being appointed Main Contractor we undertook to design, manage and co-ordinate the construction works using both sub-contractors and our own direct labour.
The works involved vibro-piling the ground under the building footprint prior to constructing a steel framed structure with composite wall and roof panels and associated ridge vents, crane rails, roller shutter and steel personnel doors and windows with security shutters.
The concrete floor slab was one of the most important factors on the project as the specification was for a heat resistant finish due to the Client’s ‘hot’ production activities and this was achieved due to carefully managed preparation and close site supervision of the works.
We were also required to cast in metal floor ducts to the Client’s furnace locations.
This new unit was required to be built with minimum disruption to the operation of adjacent proprietors, a funeral parlour and a waste disposal/recycling centre. This was achieved due to close communication with the proprietors’ operational staff and scheduling deliveries to minimise disruption.
This project was handed over on schedule with zero defects.
