Project Description – Demolition of structurally unstable walls, ground stabilisation works, structural steelwork repairs, rebuilding decorative masonry external walls, roof cladding and internal refurbishment finishing trades and cinema equipment.
Role – After a competitive tendering procedure we were awarded the project under a standard from of building contract.
Given the nature of the unstable structure and the prominent location we worked closely with the Structural Engineers to ensure the downtaking works were executed in a controlled manner whilst recording the findings for analysis by the design team.
After demolition works we cut back the floor slab, exposed the foundations and made required foundation repairs and effected chemical injection ground stabilisation.
After structural steel repairs and new strengthening works we built up coloured masonry external walls to match existing.
Reinstatement of new internal floor, wall and ceiling finishes alongside new screen and sound installation took place prior to handover.
During the works we worked closely with the Odeon and adjacent hotel Ibis to minimise disruption to their operations.
The project was handed over and zero defects were identified during snagging.
